Vision Quest 2018 La Gomera

Winds of Change – Vision Quest 2018

La Gomera, Canary Islands, Nov 1–10, 2018

Nature is a great teacher. She is a mirror. She reflects back to us our internal condition. … And the beauty of it is there is no judgement, there’s only being seen.
Steven Foster & Meredith Little,
The Teaching of the Wild Place

There are many reasons to embark on a vision quest. Finding yourself. Finding inner and outer balance. Discovering how to be wild and belong. Managing a crisis moment in life. Strengthening your self-value. Getting rid of things in your life that no longer serve you. Finding out, where you belong.

Finding real answers to the important questions isn’t easy. But those answers are within you. They may be hard to unearth – but you are not alone! We’re inviting you to a 10 day vision quest to La Gomera.

This is a chance to take a time out of time and to allow a truer version of yourself to come to life. If you want more information about what a vision quest is and what expects you, have a look on our Vision Quest page.

How does a vision quest work?

Here’s a quick rundown in a nutshell:

  • You decide to come and write a letter of intent
  • You do a medicine walk (we’ll tell you how to)
  • We meet on La Gomera and support you to get ready
  • You go out on the land for 4 days and 4 nights
  • We welcome you back and start the process of incorporation with you
  • You go back with your newly discovered treasure
  • Optional: We’ll meet with you again to help you go deeper

If you want to know more details about what’s involved, check out our info page on vision quests.

Vision Quest 2018 on La Gomera

La Gomera is the second smallest of the Canary Islands, and some say the most beautiful one. Situated next to Tenerife, but with no large airport, it hasn’t been sucked into tourism as much as some of the larger islands have been, and has kept more of its original charm. The climate on the island is amazingly versatile, from arid, desert-like landscapes in the south to the cloud forests up on the island, which date back to a time before the last ice age. Christopher Columbus has sailed from here to discover the New World – and we’re inviting you to discover yours.

Our base will be on the north side of the island, which is greener than the south. Winds brush over this region. It also ist the spot of land with the most palm trees of all of the Canary Islands. We will be staying in a privately owned lodge during our preparation and wrap-up times. From here you will go out in the surrounding hills and find your spot to go out and spend those four days of your fast.

What’s included

The price includes picking you up at the harbour in San Sebastian de La Gomera and taking you back to the harbour at the end of the seminar (group transport; additional fee for individual pick-up). Lodging and food, which will be cooked on site, is also included. If you have any allergies or food preferences, please let us know. Natalie and Peter will be your guides and do contact us to ask any questions you may have. After you have signed up, you will receive extensive information about what to pack, travel tips and information, how to prepare for your vision fast. Also, check our Resources page for additional information on how we work with you. You may want to add a vacation before or after your vision quest and stay on the island – Gomera is a lovely place with a summerly feel all year round, especially in the Valle Gran Rey on the west coast. There are lots of privately owned apartments you can rent. You can find information in places like the official Gomera Tourism Site, Airbnb or on Gomera.info.

When you sign up, we want you to send us a letter of intent. We will also send you a questionnaire which we need you to answer. We can guarantee your place once we have received your downpayment or full payment of the seminar fees.

And, last not least, have a look at some of the pictures of the place.

Investment: £700-810 if booked before 25th August, £760-870 after that date. To allow for people of all income to participate, we are using a sliding scale for cost. Please check the information under “Payment, Numbers, Places” on our Resources page.
You are signed up as soon as you paid the downpayment of £200. You may choose to pay the full seminar contribution in advance. The downpayment will not be refunded if you cancel your participation. Should we need to cancel, you will receive your downpayment back in full. If you pay your complete contribution in advance and cancel, you will receive it back minus £200. Should we need to cancel, you will receive your complete payment back in full.

Travel cost: You arrange for your travel to San Sebastian de La Gomera. Generally, this means a flight to Tenerife South (TFS), bus or taxi to Los Christianos harbour, ferry to San Sebastian. Depending on how you are booking this will be around £270. We will provide detailed information and travel tips for you once you sign up. Plan in a full day for traveling.

Lodging: Vision quest is not about five star lodging. We will be staying at a beautiful place with delicious and nutritious food, but accommodation will be in shared spaces with your sleeping bag and air mattress. However, for the days before and after your time out in the wilderness there is an option to sleep in a bed (a house nearby which we can rent). Cost depends on the number of people interested in this option, from £310 (2 people) to £180 (8 people). This will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please let us know early if you want to book this option.

The vision quest 2018 begins Thursday, Nov 1, 2018 at 6pm on location. It ends approximately at 10:00am Saturday, Nov 10 (so you can get the 12:00 ferry to Tenerife).
